Selling Chicken in the Thunderstorm

The board selling chicken in the rain!

It was an extremely rainy day, but that didn't stop us from selling Nelson's Chicken. The sun came out for about an hour which is just what we needed for a successful sale. I always have the best time with the Miss Elkhart County Board! Thank you to everyone who volunteered and bought chicken to help our cause!

All the Senior Boys who competed

Singing on the GHS stage, hadn't done that since I graduated!

I headed back to Goshen High School where I had the opportunity to be a judge for the Mr. GHS Pageant. It was great to see all the boys hard work! Each contestant picked a charity and the winner and runner-up had cash prizes donated to their charity. The boys competed in Physical Fitness, Academics, School Involvement, Poise and Self Expression. Congratulations to Carl Kay, Mr. GHS 2010!

Goshen's First Friday

Thank you to Jule's Boutique for sponsoring my dress for the evening!

Thanks to Balloon Express for sponsoring my make-up!

Every first Friday of the month, downtown Goshen celebrates the local businesses and the culture of our quaint town. I was honored to have been asked to emcee May's First Friday with the theme "I Love Goshen." The evening was full of the Fine Arts with Goshen's Dance in the City recital, The Chamberlin Orff Ensemble, NIA demonstrations, a Truth in Jazz performance and The Elkhart Glee Club entertaining the crown. I had the opportunity to sing and share my passion for the Arts. Goshen is so rich in the Fine Arts, it was a huge blessing to be able to celebrate my platform and my hometown!

Miss Indiana Miracle Bowl for Kids

This year was the first year for the Miracle Bowl for Kids. Each Miss Indiana contestant organized a Bowling Team to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network, Miss America's National Platform. My team consisted of my hott Mom, my Dad, beautiful Heather, and amazing Jean! Our team name was "The Bowling Stones." We dressed in our best 80s garb and had a total 'ball' spending time together and raising money for a great cause. After all the paperwork preparations for Kick-Off, it was nice to take a break and enjoy an afternoon together! Thank you so much to "The Bowling Stones" for being a part of my team!

The Miss Elkhart County Board, Keristen and I sold Nelson's Chicken to raise funds for our scholarships. It was a chilly, but very enjoyable afternoon. I am proud to say that I ate a whole chicken, whoever said pageant girls don't eat.... hasn't met me!

My lovely Director Jean!!

Every year the Miss Indiana contestants attend a Kick-Off meeting to turn in paperwork and receive information about Miss Indiana week. I had a blast rekindling friendships and meeting new faces. My Mom was well enough to attend with me as well as the fabulous Heather and my gorgeous director Jean. At the meeting we selected our contestant numbers and I am thrilled to be contestant number 27 in the Beta Group. This means I will have an afternoon interview, will perform my talent and answer my onstage question Wednesday night and compete in swimsuit and evening gown on Thursday night. I feel great about my number and can't wait to hit the stage!!

Elkhart Glee Club's Debut Concert

With Peter, the director and founder of The Elkhart Glee Club

Singing a few songs with the Glee Club

1...2...Glee!

I was so thrilled to have been invited to emcee Elkhart Glee Club's Debut Concert this past Saturday at The Goshen Theatre. With almost 500 in attendance the 'Gleeks' really "melted some faces," as director Peter Sessions likes to say. The concert was used as a fundraiser for the organization as well as other Arts organizations throughout Elkhart County. I had the privilege to attend their rehearsal earlier that day and experienced their passion and excitement for music. They are truly a family of individuals who have been brought together for one common goal; to have fun making music and celebrating life together. Raffle tickets sold quickly, check out the ARTS in Michiana publication and facebook page for the winners!
